The slavery. The slavery was so obvious and yet so poorly addressed I don’t know how I didn’t pick up on it sooner. There are house-elves who are literally enslaved and our protagonist, literally the chosen one, the hero of the world, is not the one campaigning for their freedom. In fact, he finds his best friend slightly embarrassing when she does so. Why? Because clearly, they enjoy slavehood and so they deserve it. It’s messed up.
